You did a fantastic job of rightfully embarrassing and shameful her for her rudeness and disgraceful lack of common human courtesy. So much for being the only true loving religion who also love their "enemies". She has to be a very weak JW anyway to say "Oh my God!" in public, very odd for JW's to use that expression at any time.

Oh My God!!
by ABibleStudent inyesterday after an awesome workout at the gym i was walking to the front door and i saw my former friend who is a "spiritually strong" (non-thinking) jw walking towards me talking with a trainer.
i thought she was either there on a job interview or was taking a tour of the facilities before joining.. i thought should i say hi, should i say nothing, would she acknowledge me, etc.
i decided to say hi to make sure that she remembered that i am a member of this gym, so that she would not feel uncomfortable it she accepted a job there or joined it.. the gym is about 20 miles from where she lived when i was friends with her, but is in a convenient location between where she was living and where she works.. i said "hi n" about five feet before me, no response.. i said "hi n" a little louder about five feet after they passed me.

If non-anointed JW's are now "domestics" then they must also be in "the household of God" - Eph 2:19

The ‘new light’ from 2012 summarized on jw.org:
Who Are the “Domestics”?
Jesus said that “his domestics” would receive “food at the proper time.”All genuine followers of Jesus are fed by “the faithful and discreet slave.” Therefore, all of Christ’s disciples—both individual anointed Christians and members of the “other sheep”—are “his domestics.”—John 10:16.
After the speaker explained this aspect of Jesus’ prophecy, the audience erupted in sustained applause. Several in attendance later expressed their profound gratitude that Jesus considers them among “his domestics.”
So both the anointed and non-anointed are altogether “domestics” getting fed together. That must surely mean both groups together are “members of the household of God” at Eph 2:18,19
“...because through him we, both peoples, have free access to the Father by one spirit. 19 So you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens of the holy ones and are members of the household of God,”
Members of the ‘other sheep’, ie, the non-anointed earthly class (as JW’s interpret it), must surely be “fellow citizens” of the holy ones and “members of the household of God.” Both groups comprise the “domestics” being fed together of the same spiritual food and both groups have “free access to the Father by one spirit” do they not?
Yet the Watchtower Society still teaches that only anointed Christians are “members of the household of God”.
How is it possible that the “other sheep” are now counted as “domestics” with both groups being spiritually fed together, but the other sheep are not also “members of the household of God.”? That’s ridiculous.
Possible new light coming as follows?:
Since all JW’s are “domestics” it follows they are all “members of the household of God” and fellow citizens with "free access to the Father by the one spirit”.
Therefore, all Jehovah's Witnesses, whether of the “other sheep” or “anointed class,” are all together in the “new covenant” (as members of God’s household) – but ONLY anointed Christians are in the “covenant for a Kingdom” (for rulership).
Thus, all JW’s, whether of the anointed or earthly class, can partake of the emblems at the memorial.

cha ching: If you read Matt 24:45-47 you'll notice there are 2 appointments of the FDS. The new teaching is that the FDS are the spiritual leaders of the Watchtower Society at any given time who prepare and distribute all the spiritual 'food' and that the first appointment of this group occurred in 1919 but the second has not yet occurred.
“Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics [FIRST APPOINTMENT IN 1919], to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Happy is that slave if his master on coming finds him doing so! 47 Truly I say to you, he will appoint him over all his belongings [SECOND APPOINTMENT, IN THE FUTURE].
"“The faithful and discreet slave” was appointed over Jesus’ domestics in 1919. That slave is the small, composite group of anointed brothers serving at world headquarters during Christ’s presence who are directly involved in preparing and dispensing spiritual food. When this group work together as the Governing Body, they act as “the faithful and discreet slave.”" jw.org 10th Nov 2012

Deuteronomy 18:22 - 'When the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word is not fulfilled or does not come true, then Jehovah did not speak that word. The prophet spoke it presumptuously. You should not fear him.’
Is there any other religion today that 'speaks in the name of Jehovah' AND has said so many presumptous things that never came true?
Jesus said DON'T follow religions that keep saying the end is near, doh!!
Luke 21:8 - 'He said: “Look out that you are not misled, for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time is near.’ Do not go after them.'

Warning signs you are in a Cult!
By Rick Ross, Expert Consultant and Intervention Specialist
Ten warning signs of a potentially unsafe group/leader.
- Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.
- No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.
- No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement.
- Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and persecutions.
- There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil.
- Former members often relate the same stories of abuse and reflect a similar pattern of grievances.
- There are records, books, news articles, or television programs that document the abuses of the group/leader.
- Followers feel they can never be "good enough".
- The group/leader is always right.
- The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing "truth" or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible.

Thoughts After Saturday Morning Service
by lambsbottom inwent out with a good friend in service this morning.
my spouse and kiddos joined us.
me and my spouse are awake jws, have gotten over the initial shock and disgust with some of the lame wt doctrine, and are determined to let god direct us wherever he may (even to another church - i'm going to a baptist service tommorow).. we have fun doing a little bit of service with the kiddos, letting them watch deer, play with sticks, and write not-at-homes down.

I suspect you are right that a lot of the younger generation (normal meaning of 'generation', not JW cult ridiculous 'overlapping' sense, haha) of JW's are awake or partially awake. I think it's mostly because the younger generation are so internet and digital social group savvy. Was it browsing the internet that woke you up?

Rotary, Lions Club & Kiwanis, etc
by 4thgen inlike so many have said on this site, it is hard to begin again and make new friends.
this has been a real challenge for me.
i recently joined a local rotary club and have become acquainted with some very dedicated business people (some retired), wanting to be of service to others.

You're being very rude and ignorant NewYork44m. Rotary and Lions are totally non-religious. They are not atheist or anything else either. They have no doctrinal agenda, just a community based Club of people who also like to help others less fortunate than themselves.
These groups are indeed an EXCELLENT choice for ex-JW's to join, as 4thgen recommends.

I feel sorry for you. It's sad when your whole identity and feeling of mental health revolves so completely around the JW world. You must still be quite badly ensconced in it all somehow, staying in and leading a double life for family reasons I'm assuming?

Post Traumatic Apostate Syndrome or (The Little Box of Madness)
by Terry inwhat tools does a duped person have?
intellectual damage is done once you are indoctrinated.. your emotional ties to your "spiritual family" form a bias to free thinking.. .
why should you make your life better by first making it worse?.
-
yadda yadda 2
Fascinating Terry and very true.
Does posting frequently on this ex-JW forum count as a little box of madness?
Leaving the JW's can trigger an existential crisis.
JW's are so fearful of it. How often do you hear JW's say something like "but where else will we go?" The void is too scarey. There's nothing else, just a vacuum. To leave feels like looking into the face of the grim reaper almost.
I only found real mental enlightenment upon realising that the Bible is definitely not the 'inspired word of God'. It cannot possibly be. It was reading philosophy on the problem of evil, and the irresistible logic and reasoning of the great skeptics (Voltaire, Paine, Ingersoll, Hitchens, et al) that set me free. Until one realises that, they will always be susceptible to returning to the JWs or ending up in some other religion.
The advice to take a 'gap' year from the JW's and do lots of open research is an excellent suggestion. Take a sabbatical from all organised religion and open your mind. Go on an intellectual adventure. You won't regret it.
